Good place to visit Izumo Taisha
Spotlessly clean. Right next to the train station to Izumo Taisha. Decent size room.
There’s not a lot of stuff around, and Matsue station is quite far (about 30 mins walking) although it can be reached by bus (the stop is right next to the hotel). Please instruct your staff that residents of Japan don’t need to have their residence cards scanned to stay at hotels (in the same way as Japanese people don’t need to have their passports scanned). There seems to be still a lot of ignorance (intentional or not) around this in Japan.

What was the highlight of Hotel Ichibata
Did not meet my expectations
I enjoyed the ryokan experience, view of the lake and proximity to the Shimane art museum, staff were very helpful.
The hotel is a long way from city center and traveling there an back was difficult without regular buses, I enjoyed the ryokan experience except for sleeping on the floor, I found it the mattress very hard. The entry foyer is very well appointed, but the ryokan room building B level 4 was very old and dated
